Butler County 72-Hour Release Reality
The official Butler County sweep found no public roster, three-day archive, recently released page, booking-detail view, or booking-photo gallery. No exact 72-hour URL exists to cite. The County also publishes no feed fields, cadence, or online retention promise. It would be inaccurate to say that a name remains available for 72 hours, drops after three days, or appears on a fixed refresh schedule.
The “72 hours” phrase therefore defines the inquiry's date range. It is not the lifespan of a county web record. The first source is Butler County Prison for present custody and the existing admission and release record. PA SAVIN can supply timely custody-event evidence. A Butler County criminal docket can explain a bail, dismissal, sentencing, or other court action. No one source should be made to answer all three questions.
Build Butler County Three-Day Release List
Start by defining the window in local time. Write down its first and last date, then collect a full name and an identifier for each person. An approximate booking period, date of birth when properly available, docket number, or prison number reduces false matches. The workflow must remain person-specific because the county does not offer a bulk feed.
- Check VINELink with Pennsylvania selected. Preserve any event label, facility, identifier, and displayed time.
- Call Butler County Prison at 724-284-5256 for present status and ask whether the person left for the community or another authority.
- Search the UJS public portal, limited to Butler County when possible, for bail, disposition, sentence, commitment, and later orders.
- Submit the required Butler County request form for an existing admission and release record covering the full three-day range.
- Follow any recorded destination into PADOC, another county, BOP, or ICE rather than counting a transfer as community release.
Run the same checks for each named person. Keep the result tied to its source. A PA SAVIN alert may be fast, but it is not a certified permanent archive. A docket can show that release was authorized, but it may not show when the person physically left. The Prison record can show the time and destination but may require a formal request for historical use.
The Butler County 24-Hour Releases workflow is better for a same-day check. It uses the same official chain but focuses on the shortest current window.
Butler County Release Record Fields
No public 72-hour feed exists, so these are request fields rather than advertised web columns. A narrow request should identify the person and booking, then ask for the existing facts that show whether Butler County Prison custody ended during the chosen three-day period.
| Field | Use in a three-day check |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifier | Matches the record to the intended person. |
| Booking or prison number | Separates one custody stay from another. |
| Admission or commitment date | Shows which Butler County Prison stay the release closes. |
| Release date and time | Places the event inside or outside the bounded 72-hour range. |
| Recorded authority or type | Preserves the official reason or legal basis as written. |
| Destination classification | Distinguishes a community discharge from another custody placement. |
Possible record categories include bond or bail, time served, sentence expiration, county parole, a probation-related disposition, dismissal, court order, or transfer. Those are categories to request and recognize, not proof that Butler uses each exact label. Keep the custodian’s own wording. Never change “transfer” to “released.” A court order also must not be assigned a departure time that the Prison did not record.
Note: Ask for the destination field because leaving Butler County Prison does not always mean entering the community.
Weekend Butler County Release Checks
A three-day range is useful around weekends because it prevents a search from being confined to one calendar day. It does not guarantee that offices publish or process records on a special weekend schedule. The Butler County research found no official release hour, holiday cadence, exit point, or roster refresh cycle. Those details must not be supplied from common jail practice or another county.
When the window crosses midnight, save the source time and note whether it is local. A voice notification may arrive at any hour. An unanswered PA SAVIN call may repeat, but that service behavior is not a county-feed schedule. If the docket reflects a Friday order and the Prison record gives a later release time, preserve both. The order explains possible authority; the Prison record establishes actual departure from that facility.
Broaden the date range only when the event time is unclear. Avoid saying that an administrative delay “pushed” a release into another day unless the actual record shows that. Holidays and weekends may affect when a records office answers, yet the research does not establish a fixed local lag for physical release processing.
Request Butler County Release Records
Butler County requires its own request form. Send it through the County Open Records page to openrecords@co.butler.pa.us, or use the listed in-person, mail, or fax channels. The general officer is at 124 West Diamond Street, fifth floor, P.O. Box 1208, Butler, PA 16003-1208. The phone is 724-284-5100 and fax is 724-284-5400.
Describe an existing record. Supply the full name and identifier, the booking that began near a known date, and a bounded three-day period. Ask for the prison or booking number, admission date, final release date and time, recorded authority or type, and destination classification. Request electronic delivery and advance notice of fees. The county form follows Pennsylvania’s five-business-day response framework, with an extension possible in specified cases.
A record may be withheld or redacted under criminal-investigation, privacy, safety, CHRIA, juvenile, sealed-record, or other rules. Ask for segregable nonexempt fields and a written legal basis for each withheld part. Do not ask the officer to research the reason for release or create a narrative. Sheriff-held warrant records use the separate Sheriff channel, while a Prison release log begins with the County and Prison route.
When the three-day range includes a court event, the Butler County Clerk of Courts can route Common Pleas criminal record questions. The docket supplies context, while the Prison record supplies the custody event.
Butler County Release Data Traps
Namesake counties create an unusual risk here. Search engines can surface Butler County rosters and sheriff apps from Alabama or Ohio. Those products are not evidence about Butler County, Pennsylvania. Check the state, facility address, operator, and official web domain before saving any result. A polished roster can still belong to the wrong jurisdiction.
The official Pennsylvania Prison hub is the right reference point. Its captured service menu shows no roster or three-day release archive.
The image supports a negative but important fact: local confirmation must come from the Prison, PA SAVIN, the court docket, or a county request. It does not support the claim that no record exists. It only shows that the county does not publish the expected web feed.
Note: A namesake-county roster cannot fill Butler County’s missing online window, even when its title looks exact.
Butler County Release Custody Boundaries
A released person and a transferred person require different conclusions. If Butler County Prison confirms community release, the county custody period ended as recorded. If it reports PADOC, federal, immigration, another jail, or another agency as the destination, custody continued elsewhere. A hospital movement under guard and a work-release movement are also not final discharge.
A court result needs the same care. Bail posted or a release order can explain the authority for a possible departure, but another hold may prevent it. A dismissal or time-served sentence supplies the legal outcome, yet the Prison record is still needed to establish the physical release time and whether another agency took custody. When the sources conflict, ask the custodian to correct or explain the underlying record instead of choosing the result that seems most recent.
PA SAVIN covers participating county jails, state prisons, and state parole. It does not cover BOP or ICE. PADOC’s two locators concern current state incarceration and current department supervision, not a complete archive of all discharged people. A supervised-person match supports current supervision, not the exact county release timestamp. BOP’s result is limited to BOP custody. An ICE no-match does not prove community release because it could reflect transfer, removal, an identifier problem, or a data limit.
Identity matching is part of release confirmation. Compare a prison or DOC number, docket number, birth date or approximate age, committing county, and facility when available. Similar names and the same county are not enough to merge two records. Preserve each source’s date wording, and note whether a displayed event time is local before deciding whether it falls inside the three-day range.
For a named person, the Butler County released inmate records path explains how the court, Prison, state, and federal sources fit together. In every system, an affirmative matched event carries more weight than a negative search.
